Programming

My name is Chad Compton, and I am a website developer and computer programmer. Just like doctors work on making clients' bodies stronger, I work on making clients' Internet presence stronger.

My business begins with client communication to discover what the client is looking for and what the client actually needs. These things are not always one in the same, and by working together, we can combine the two for an attractive, efficient website. I work closely with my clients to ensure their design, color, functionality and layout standards are all met.

Website Content Development, Information Architecture, and Design
A website is more than just a presence on the Internet. It is a customer- relationship system. A website should fit into my clients' overall branding strategy. Often, the first place we turn for website style, color, and font choices is the clients' existing printed materials.

Throughout the process, I work to translate my clients' identity, business, and communication strategies into expressive and effective information architectures and visual design systems. I provide a number of coding services such as ASP, PHP, (X)HTML, DHTML, CSS, JavaScript and some Flash.

Desktop Software Graphical User Interface Design
I offer easy-to-use and engaging graphical user interfaces (GUI) for desktop applications. I provide solutions matching system performance with an engaging branded experience. I provide a range of desktop application engineering which includes Visual Basic, SQL, MySQl, Access and Crystal Reports.

Just A Tip
Recently I was asked to start providing helpful coding tips and tid bits for my fellow programmers. Whether it be asp, vb.net, php, or html, I have started randomly tweeting "a tip" and writing a small blog snipit to accompany it. I hope this helps someone solve a probelm they are having one day.

Here is a link to my blog that I started entitled Wanderlust Coder (that's me). So aptly named becuase my partner and I do a lot of traveling. We never know where life will take us. The blog centers mostly on coding, but some also has random travel tid bits and culture pieces that I pick up along the way.

About

My name is Chad Compton and I am a professional graphic artist, website developer, and computer programmer. I have lived in Lexington, Kentucky, since graduating from Morehead State University in fall of 1998 with a BBA in Computer Information Science.

My certifiable computer geek status began with a fascination of websites and the Internet in general. I kept wondering how words and symbols ended up being illustrated so nicely on the web. That was when I started learning how to write codes and develop websites. College degree aside, I am largely self-taught; passion and interest can take me a long way. Because the Internet is constantly changing, my style and technique are always evolving to keep up with users' changing tastes.

I became a Visual Basic Programmer in 1997, building desktop programs that interact with databases including Access, SQL, and Betrieve. I personally design these programs to meet the specifications and needs of each individual client. Anything I can do to help improve my clients' efficiency and work flow benefits not only their business but my business, as well.
